Southlands Heritage Farm is a little farming and nature oasis right in the city of Vancouver. Most people are surprised to find out we exist! We farm using permaculture methods during the growing season and run educational programming year 'round. We think the farm is a great alternative place for a laid back, fun wedding, birthday, bachelor/bachelorette party, or other special event. Come down and explore the farm and decide for yourself what spaces would be best for a reception, ceremony, or party. Sleeping out on the farm by the fire or in the hayloft is also an option. See below for what facilities we have, what facilities are near by, and other details, and then give us a call or drop by!
20 stall barn with hay loft. The hay loft is approximately 20 feet wide by 90 feet long. It can be emptied of hay for a function. Or a great place to sleep over for you or your guests.
Horse riding arena. It would be possible to cancel our regular lessons in this arena and put up a tent for your function.
Covered deck space. This area is approximately 15 feet by 40 feet.
Outdoor covered space with cob ovens and cooking space. Approximately 15 by 20 feet.
Apple Orchard. This is a quarter acre with lush grass in the summer. We've had lots of camp outs here by the fire-pit.
Grazing Pasture. This is a quarter acre on an adjoining property. It is surrounded by a market garden, trees, the family house, and a horse run.
Toilets. Currently we have 1 indoor plumbed toilet with hot water, and 1 portable blue toilet. There are 2 sinks in the barn.
Showers. not really. But we do have a hot water hose in the horse wash stall with a shower head on it. Curtains could be put up?
Seating. We have seating for about 60 people in the form of wooden benches, love seats, and plastic chairs. If you want something fancier you need to order your own!
The rest of the property consists of market gardens, animal pens, a pond, and berry fruit.

Garbage We've noticed a lot of it after parties. Please consider not decorating the party space with plastic novelty items and enjoy the natural farmscape instead. Use our ceramic dinnerware for children's parties too, in place of Disney themed plastic plates. We will provide compost and recycling, but we ask that all garbage produced is taken home with you.
Dinnerware Rental Place setting for 20 people. Includes table cloth and use of our propane stove. $30. Set up and take down will be your responsibility. We have a tub for dirty dishes. See our lovely new dish set->
The Fraser River trail is 3 blocks from the farm. Follow the trail along the river up into Pacific Spirit Park.
Availability We are potentially available for booking a big function anytime, EXCEPT, March Break, and the last 2 weeks in October. Weekdays during July and August are also pretty busy, but possible. Click here to see our currently scheduled events.
Capacity It depends which part of the farm you'd like to use... Around 200 people is probably a max.
Price The cost of running your special event here will depend on how much of the farm you want to use, how many people, and what regularly scheduled lessons we will have to rearrange. Call us and we'll give you a quote!
Other Considerations These would be your responsibility: chair, table, tent and toilet rentals (if >40 people), liquor licencing (PAL), catering, Valet parking, decorating.
